Haridwar, the city is identified as one of the most sacred abode of the Hindus or one of the seven holiest places in India. It is a pilgrimage center and is visited for its historical value. It has mythological importance. The name is even mentioned in Mahabharata. With the entrance of Haridwar begins the divine journey towards Char Dham. It is at Hardwar the sacred River Ganges touches the plains after crossing the rocky hills. The famous Har ki Pauri Ghat, Maya Devi temple etc.

The religious retreat begins with exploring the Char Dham namely, the Badrinath Dham, Kedarnath Dham, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham.  Soon after the serene experience, the snow capped expedition to Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Nainital, Dehradun, Tehri or Champawat is breath taking. The most romantic and ideal honeymoon spots on the hill cottages in Mussoorie or divine Rudraprayag soothe the distress soul and calms mind. It is the nature which eases the human mind, body and soul. The beauty of the nature in Uttarakhand is diverse and captivating. It is unique and breathtaking.

Exploring North India is incomplete without visiting the wild life parks or experiencing the jeep safari through the Corbett’s National park and Rajaji National Park. The state has about 12 National Parks and wild life sanctuaries spreading about 13.8% of the area of the state. Besides the parks and sanctuaries there are Conservation Reserves, The Asan Barrage and the Jhilmil Tal. These two are identified as the two prominent World Heritage sites, the Nanda Devi Biosphere reserve and valley of flowers national park.

The Valley of Flowers and Nandadevi National Park are fascinating spots in Uttarakhand. They are unique creation of nature. The place is popular for mountaineers and trekkers for engaging into adventure sports like rock climbing and trekking. Different parks and sanctuaries based at varied altitudes also offer the scope of inspecting a variety of wild life species. More than 300 types of wild flowers bloom in the region which attracts the nature lover, botanist, zoologist, ecologists etc.

Other prominent National Parks, Sanctuaries which should not be missed while visiting Uttarakhand are Binog Wildlife Sanctuary near Mussoorie, Askot wildlife sanctuary, Govind Pasu Vihar and National park, Kedarnath wildlife sanctuary, Gangotri National park, Sonanadi wildlife sanctuary and Binsar WLS near almora.

For the tourist the key activities that are arranged to explore the natural treasures are Wildlife Safari, Jeep Safari, Elephant safari, Forest treks and Cycle expedition. The wildlife safari along the majestic mountain range through the open valleys and beside the cascading shimmering river along the Himalayas is a breathtaking experience.  The safari is uniquely planned to offer an enthralling experience while touring the state and feel its unique character.

The Jeep safari is specially designed for the bird lovers. Wild life tours and bird watching can be perfectly experienced while trailing the forests and Parks on a open Jeep. The Elephant safari through the Rajaji National Park is ideal for family outing. Slow and relaxed safari on an elephant back is a unique way of viewing a variety of wild life in the jungle. The forest trek is a new innovation specially incorporated for the nature lovers who wish to study the flora and fauna in and around the park in detail and encounter wild life in person. It is an exploration on foot. The trekking expedition is arranged around the Shiwalik range.

The adventurous trail to Uttarakhand will remain incomplete without visiting Auli, Chakrata, Corbett and Binsar.  It is the hot spot for experiencing adventurous sports like skiing, river boat rafting, trekking, camping, paragliding and mountain biking. Rafting along the white waters through the rocky terrains, deep forest, mountains or even snowy slopes through the stretches of Alaknanda, Kali and Dhailiganga rivers is a unique experience that may be only enjoyed in Uttrakhand. The place could be visited during November to June and indulge into rafting around the river stretches.
